A person has died after being hit by a train between London Paddington and Reading this afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to the scene on the tracks near Slough, but the person died at the scene. Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

As a result, the Elizabeth Line was disrupted between London Paddington and Reading, said National Rail at 3.40pm. The company added that GWR trains are also being disrupted between London Paddington and Reading, Oxford, Cardiff Central, Exeter St David's and Plymouth.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line in Slough shortly after 3.30pm today (21 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner"
